The Glade festival was new for 2004, coming from 'The Glade area' in Glastonbury. The festival made its debut on 16th - 18th July 2004 in forty acres of English woodland 55 miles from London (along the M4). The maximum capacity of 5,500 made it an intimate and special festival. The organisers aims were to return to the true festival spirit of Glasto in the early '70's set against the sonic backdrop of some of the world’s most renowned dance music trailblazers. Radio 1's Zane Lowe described The Glade as “the best stage” at last years fest.
The aim was that the Glade Festival should embrace all the elements that make up the very best of an English summer festival. The organisers plan to develop the event over the next five years.
